In Revelation 8:8-9, we are told of what will happen when the second trumpets sounds, after the Seventh Seal is opened:
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
We have previously cited preliminary research into the impact of the acidification of the ocean on harmful algae blooms (aka HABs). That research found that both warming oceans and increasing acidification of the oceans were supportive of HABs. This is relevant to the prophecy quoted above, as we have argued that when the second trumpet is blown, one third of the oceans will become engulfed in a world-wide harmful algae bloom — the red tide.
