Given that the reputation of Russian news sources are just as suspect as CNN or MSNBC, it is hard to evaluate a recent report out of Russian.

The Levada research center conducted a poll which found that the percentage of atheists in Russia fell from 26% to 13%. It also found that religious believers made up 88% of the population. As Levada is the only non-government polling agent and was declared a “foreign agent”, perhaps the poll result does have some credibility (at least as much and probably more credible than polls from the western mass media…which still doesn’t say much I suppose).
However, if this poll is reflective of what is going on in Russia, it should be considered almost a miraculous event, given that faith in God is falling at a rapid rate in the West. This news should be investigated more.
