In 1905, in book written by George Santanyana, the author wrote:
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
The gist of this idea has been repeated numerous times over the years since. The latest take to make the rounds is that “history rhymes”, which I would guess means that regardless of whether people forget the past or not, similar events will occur. So, the question is what rhymes with Weimar?
Numerous times, this site has argued that current events have an eerie resemblance to the events of the Weimar Republic — the period of German history that saw the rise of Hitler to power.
During the Weimar Republic, the Nazis used an internal group called the “Brown Shirts’, who used violence to attack opposition political group events — very similar to the ‘antifa’ of today. The Nazis also put great efforts into their propaganda efforts — much like the mass media of today. Though the hyperinflation of that period is much worse than the high inflation being experienced today, the polices of the Green political parties would purposely bring about similar inflation as seen during the Weimar era. However, just as the hyperinflation of the Weimar period gave birth to socialist political parties, the inflation being experienced in America is already seeing an increase in socialist politicians and the call for socialist policies. In America, there are a growing number of Democrat politicians who have joined the socialist wing of that party, called the Democrat Socialists of America. I would say that it ‘rhymes’ with a similar political group during the Weimar period — the “National Socialist German Workers Party”. Though the Democrats are very quick to call anyone opposed to their policies as ‘Nazis’, it is impossible to deny that the Democrats tactics and policies are very much in line with the socialist wing of the Nazi party. The Democrats are the biggest users of propaganda, are the biggest proponents of the use of violence for political ends, are the funding source for the violent anti-fa related organizations, and now, with the uptick in socialist Democratic candidates and politicians, are the closest to the Nazis in their socialist agenda.
Every time a Democrat cries ‘Nazi’, do not forget that they themselves are the closest thing to Nazis that exist today.
