red water

Revelation 8:8-9 tells us:

And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;

And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

We have argued that that 1/3 of the sea turning to blood will be manifested as giant blooms of red tide engulfing the world’s oceans.  Red tide refers to blooms of a toxic algae that turns the ocean the color of blood, and just as Revelation 8:9 says, red tide can be fatal to most ocean life.

We base our argument on scientific research that says the warming of the world’s oceans will result in more frequent and larger toxic algae blooms, given that warmer water is more conducive to their creation.  Initial research also argues that the acidification of the world’s oceans is also supportive of toxic algae blooms.

In the past we have discussed the warming of the north Pacific Ocean in conjunction with the drought in California and in the diminishing Antarctica cold water currents, but we can now also view the warming north Pacific Ocean in conjunction with massive toxic algae blooms —

This is a massive toxic algae bloom as stretches from California to Oregon to Washington to Alaska, and is 40 miles wide and 650 feet deep.  Scientists have noticed that the frequency of sightings are increasing and as is the size of the toxic algae blooms.  Even in seeming colder regions, like the Baltic Sea, toxic algae blooms are becoming more of an issue —

As the world’s oceans continue to warm and as their waters become increasingly acidic, the harmful algae blooms (aka HABs) will continue to increase in their frequency and size, until Revelation 8:8 comes to pass and they cover 1/3 of the world’s oceans.
