This site has previously argued that the Fifth Seal has been opened, and that within the time line of events described in Revelation, we are currently waiting for the opening of the Sixth Seal. There is only a small issue, based upon Revelation 6:5-6, where it says:
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
The most literal interpretation is that the opening of the Third Seal heralds the start of food shortages, as “a measure of wheat for a penny” represented a 10 fold increase in price of wheat. Currently the price of wheat and other grains are around the same level as they were 40 years ago, so when you factor in inflation, the inflation-adjusted prices would show that grain prices are near record lows – something that stands contrary to the belief that the Third Seal has been opened.
One could argue, that while the price of grain at historically low levels, the price of bread and food in general continues to move higher. A loaf of bread costs much more now than in the 1970’s, and if you were buying breakfast in Manhattan, you would surely feel the pain of inflation. Though government data on inflation is used to argued that inflation is “too low”, those who are struggling with the rising costs of living (a phenomena ignored by the mass media and the government elites) can attest to the fact that the government data paints a false picture of what is being experienced by the majority of people.
The opening of the First to Fifth Seals can be characterized as a beginning, as the unleashed horsemen will continue their work until the return of Christ. Since being released, the first horseman has been working 24/7 to bring about the rise of the Anti-Christ. Death and Hades have been released, and continue to wrought havoc in their dominion (we have argued that the conflict zones of the Middle East and Africa are now under the dominion of Death and Hades). Similarly with the third horseman, the main central banks of the world have been engaged in monetary policy which punishes the poor with major increases in the costs of living, while the rich enjoy massive gains in their real estate and financial holdings. Over 60% of the population continue to suffer from rising prices, while the return of their labor remains stagnate (due to the massive influx of illegal immigration).
However, we do know that it is only a matter of time before the price of wheat and other grains eventually rise 10 times in price — the opening of the Sixth and Seventh Seal will surely cause massive food shortages. At present, even though grain producing areas in America, Australia, and Argentina are suffering from a lack of rain, global wheat prices remain low. This is being driven by the massive increase in productivity of the wheat growing areas around the Black Sea. Recent years has seen record grain production in the Black Sea area, which has pushed down the price of wheat and other grains. It would take a serious drought in this region to start pushing grain prices higher – such a drought did occur in 2010.
In 2010, Russia was engulfed in a massive heatwave and drought, which reduced grain output by 30%, forcing the Russian government to suspend all grain exports to insure that its people did not suffer. Global grain prices spiked on those events. It turns out that the weather event that caused that heatwave/drought can be linked to global warming, and as such, we can expect for a repeat at some point in time.
As average annual Arctic temperatures increase at twice the global average, the temperature difference between the Arctic and the equator decreases. As that differential grows smaller, one effect is that the Northern Hemisphere jet stream grows weaker. As the jet stream weakens, the wind slows down, and instead of forming a tight circle around the Arctic region, it can bend and make huge looped, wave patterns that dip very far south. Researchers have discovered that these looped waved patterns can become “locked” for many months. In 2010, such a pattern formed over Russia, locking in dry hot air, which resulted in heatwaves and drought. That same pattern resulted in months of heavy rain for Pakistan, which caused widespread flooding across the whole nation. The recent drought in California was cause by the same weather phenomena. The Arctic region is suffering from a number of different self-reinforcing natural global warming phenomenon, which is causing it to heat up faster than rest of the world. This will only continue. As the temperature differential between the Arctic and the equator continues to shrink (especially during the summer), we can expect the jet stream to further weaken, increasing the chances of prolonged drought or rain – both of which are detrimental to grain production. Given this (as well as the other prophecies found in Revelation), we can expect grain prices to eventually rise 10 times over, as we progress further into the End of Days. It is just a matter of time.
(I read that Bill Gates of Microsoft has been gobbling up farm land in America. I doubt that he is a Believer, so he must be aware of the possibility of a sudden acceleration of global warming and its implications on food production. Of course, he is betting that his farm land will still be productive when the sh@t hits the fan….. Also, I thought these related articles, published previously, were worth reading.
