The odds are still high that the opening of the Seventh Seal is still a ways off — perhaps another 5 to ten years?  We are still waiting for the opening of the Sixth Seal.  I say this so people don’t get too concerned about the coming war — as Believers, we can rejoice that even though Revelation prophecy says that a lot of bad things are coming, it means that Christ’s return draws ever nearer.

In Revelation 9:13-16, it says:

And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

14Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

15And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

16And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

We have argued that the War of the Sixth Trumpet (seems like a catchy name….yes, I do watch too much science fiction) will occur in the Turkey/Syria/Iraq region, given that those nations are connected with the Euphrates River.  Our main scenario for this war is that Russia will be one of the protagonists, as the war will be global in scale and will involve nuclear weapons — given that “the third part of men” will die.

The implication is that the Assad regime in Syria will not be toppled, and that Russia will maintain their military presence in that nation.  Recent news remains supportive of that view.

Donald Trump Ends Covert CIA Program To Arm “Moderate” Syrian Rebels

Trump has taken a step back from the brink in Syria, and seems to be walking back America’s attempt to overthrow the Assad regime.  This should help keep Assad and Russia around for awhile longer.  Also, Russia has renewed their lease on one of their military bases in Syria.

For the War of the Sixth Trumpet, our main scenario remains that the current conflicts in the Turkey/Syria/Iraq will continue, and that when the Sixth Trumpet is sounded, this local conflict will explode into a global nuclear war.  At this point, the most likely trigger would be a direct attack on Russia, whether that attack is conventional or nuclear does not matter — Russia has made it clear that they will defend themselves with nuclear weapons irregardless.  In order for this scenario to come to pass, Russia needs to maintain their military presence in Syria — and recent news indicates that this will be the case.
