Antarctica ice sheets are melting rapidly — a three-fold increase in 5 years — according to a recent study.

The author of this article jumps to the assertion that this will lead to sea level rise, which is very misleading (more fake news). Ice sheets are already displacing water in the ocean, so their melting does not cause any sea-level rise. The melting of land-based ice is what contributes to sea-level rise. This shows how ‘news’ can be written in very misleading ways.
However, this recent piece of research does support other work, which argued that the warming oceans is causing an acceleration of ice melt of both ice sheets and land-based ice in Antarctica. The weight of the polar ice melt (from both the Arctic as well as Antarctica) is so great, that it has caused the ocean bottom to deform and sink.

Though unsupported by any published research, this site has wondered aloud whether this deformation and sinking of the ocean bottom has any links to increasing global volcanism.
Scientific research has shown that there is a strong correlation between sudden (in geological terms) melt-offs of polar ice and highly active periods of global volcanism.

The precise mechanism by which melting polar ice can lead to an increase in global volcanism is not well understood, though certain theories have been presented. In the case of Iceland and Antarctica, a very strong argument has been made. Should the melting of the land-based ice be of sufficient magnitude (which is occurring now), the removal of the weigh of the ice causes the earth’s crust to rise (like a sponge when a weight is removed from it). The rising earth’s crust causes magma to rise with it (and show how causes an increase in magma production). Western Antarctica has the densest amount of volcanoes in the world (over 90 have been located so far under the ice pack). It is believed that one or two are currently active and are causing significant ice melt. The volcanoes of Iceland are more readily available for study (as they are mostly above the ice), and not so long ago, there was a major eruption there. Theory tells us to expect an dramatic increase in volcanic activity in Antarctica as well as Iceland.
Just this week, the largest volcano in Iceland has experienced a number of earthquake swarms, possibly signaling a major eruption.

Time will tell if this Icelandic volcano will explode or not, but the people of Hawaii and Guatemala are all too aware of the possibility of a global resurgence of volcanism, as they have suffered through major eruptions recently.
This is all relevant to this website, as we have argued that the opening of the Sixth Seal in Revelation will be manifested by the eruption of a supervolcano. In Revelation 6:12-17 says:
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
In our scenario, a large earthquake will be triggered by the rising magma, which will cause fissures in the caldera lid. When the lid breaks, a massive eruption will occur that will spew enough ash into the atmosphere to blacken the sky, and for those who are still able to see the moon, it will be turned red due to the particles in the air. Just as the sun will be blotted out by the ash, so will the stars of the night sky. Though one could argue that this is a very generic description of what has occurred many times over the last two thousands years, verse 15 tells us how this eruption will be different — the ‘kings of the earth’ as well as ‘great’ and ‘rich’ men will hide themselves in bunkers, both underground and carved into mountains. This tells us of the global impact of the volcanic eruption that will signal the opening of the Sixth Seal. Also, it would imply that the supervolcano will be located in America, where there are three supervolcanoes. We come to this conclusion as an eruption of the supervolcanos in Asia, even if catastrophic, would cause ash clouds to mostly fall over the Pacific Ocean, and not directly impact America or Europe to any significant degree.
Man-made global warming has triggered a number of natural, self-reinforcing global warming processes. The amount of carbon already in the atmosphere is consistent with a 5 to7 degree Centigrade rise in global average temperatures (as determined by a study by paleo-climate scientists). One of the natural global warming processes that has begun is the melting of the polar ice. As that process advances, average global temperatures will begin to spike higher. As the polar ice melt accelerates, other studies have argued that global volcanism will also spike higher — Icelandic volcanic emissions could see an increase as high as 30 times. This nexus between global warming and volcanic activity supports our view that a cataclysmic supervolcano eruption will occur, to serve as the manifestation of the opening of the Sixth Seal.
